Spanish Banks

Yesterday was a perfect day to take a walk down along Vancouver’s Spanish Banks.  It’s late October now, so there’s a definite crispness to the air, but the sun was out, and it was warm enough to stroll wearing a zip-up hoody and no jacket.

The fog covered the water, lifting one moment, then falling like a veil in the next, making even the giant freighters anchored in the bay seem like ghost ships.

I love October!!

Of course, I always have my camera in hand, and caught a few pics I thought worth posting 🙂

A wine weekend in the Okanagan

We’re just back from a wonderful long weekend in BC’s wine country: the Okanagan.  This year we stayed in Osoyoos and explored the wineries in the area that we hadn’t been able to get to on previous visits.  It’s amazing how many wineries there are!

The weather was spectacular, and the scenic views just can’t be beat.  And of course, I took my camera along for the journey, as we hopped from winery to winery and tried out their wares.

If you haven’t been, I highly recommend a visit to BC’s Okanagan 🙂

Photo Walk

On Saturday, I was invited by friend to join her on a Worldwide Photo Walk in Steveston — my favourite place!

I didn’t know what to expect at all, knowing only where to meet, and that there was a maximum of 50 people signed up… so I pictured a horde of us stomping through the lanes of Steveston with our cameras swinging from our necks, snapping at anything that took our fancy.

Well, it wasn’t quite that.  We met at the appointed hour, but were given free reign from there, and if I was an outsider looking in, it would have only appeared as though there were more people with cameras in Steveston that day, rather than any kind of organized event.

The best part was, I got to spend time with a friend I haven’t seen in years (thank you, Trudy!), and it was the perfect day for a wander while playing with my camera. 🙂

I’ve included some pics, here in my Steveston collection 🙂

Harvest

Believe it or not, these are all carrots.  Grown in our tiny little townhouse garden, we harvested them a few weeks ago and were surprised with their varied colours and shapes.

They reminded me a little of a favourite childhood book, “Bugs Bunny’s Carrot Machine”, in which Bugs builds a carrot machine that spits out carrots that are green, square, wrong texture… every thing a carrot is not supposed to be.

Well these carrots may not look like carrots, but they sure tasted like carrots… fresh from the garden 🙂
